Thrive 2050 has been accepted into NVIDIA Inception. This is a programme that provides startups with access to technical resources, training, preferred pricing on NVIDIA hardware and software, partner offers and events.
We applied because we believe machine learning is going to change carbon project development significantly.
The direction is already clear across the market, particularly in the investment going into satellite imagery, remote sensing and automated environmental analysis. Carbon projects can generate enormous volumes of monitoring data and supporting evidence. Analysing all of that manually is difficult, slow and increasingly unrealistic.
We want to investigate how machine learning can help project developers identify trends, spot unusual results and understand what is happening across a project. We also see a role for it in preparing the documentation and narratives required for verification.
For us, the question is not whether machine learning will become part of carbon project development. It is where it can provide real value without weakening the integrity of the evidence.
We do not believe AI should make certification decisions, alter underlying project data or replace the judgement of project developers and certifiers. Sources must remain traceable, and a human must remain responsible for reviewing the result.
Joining NVIDIA Inception gives us access to resources, tools and a wider community as we begin exploring these questions. We will test the ideas before making claims about what they can do.
